Voice Coil Motor (VCM) is widely used today in camera modules. However, VCM does not address the most important features required by the latest manufacturing techniques to drive costs down, such as wafer scale and reflowability. In addition, VCM is not energy efficient and not fast enough to guarantee an outstanding picture quality and continuous autofocus for video. poLight’s TLens is actually addressing those needs.
